As we look at our world today, many of us are realizing the difficulties we are encountering. Paul faced many situations where he needed to be reminded of the awesomeness of God’s power. I want to share with you the wonderful words he wrote.
“But he said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.’ Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.”
2-Corinthians 12:9-10 NIV
One morning in a dream, I saw a picture with a Bible opened to the page of 2-Corinthians 12. When I woke up, I right away opened this scripture in my Bible, and the words of Jesus printed in red jumped out to me. “My grace is sufficient for you, for My power is made perfect in weakness.”
I continued to read: “… for my power is made perfect in weaknesses. … I delight in weaknesses… when I am weak, I am strong.” Power in weakness? Yes! But there is more to it. It is made perfect in weakness. How is it possible to be delighted in weakness, in insults, in hardships in persecutions and in difficulties?
I turned to the next chapter and read 2-Corinthians 13:5 NIV:
“Examine yourselves to see whether you are in the faith; test yourselves. Do you not realize that Christ Jesus is in you – unless, of course, you fail the test?”
2-Corinthians 13:5 NIV
The words “Do you not realize that Christ Jesus is in you?” came to me like a test of my faith.
With God living inside of us, His power is made perfect in our weakness. Jesus lives inside of us. He is with us 24/7 through the Holy Spirit. He said He will not leave us and will not forsake us until the end of the age. Every difficult circumstance in life can make us stronger when we give it to Him for His glory.
I know it is easy to say “God’s power is made perfect in our weakness with God living inside of us.” But let us begin each day “dressed in Jesus” knowing He is all in all. As we remember, that because He is inside of us and is walking with us through all our circumstances, we can trust Him to make His power perfect in our weakness.
May Christ’s power rest on us as He walks with us through life.
