It Is Not Just Poetry – It Is Life

I

Many of us are going through the tough seasons in life. One of those seasons is sickness.

My husband was lying in bed with a high fever that lasted for several days. He was quarantined from the rest of the family, suffering from pains in the body and migraines. It was tough for him, and I was tired too. At night, I took the anointing oil and came to his room to pray for him. I have prayed many times, but again, I came to speak HEALING and complete restoration in his body.

When I left the room, I was conversing with God. I remembered all His promises, and they are YES and AMEN. I believe that He is a Wonder Working God. I know that NOTHING is impossible for Him, but sometimes, I still question Him, why…

 When Jesus walked on this earth, His spoken one word could heal a person. Someone could just touch the hem of His garment, and healing would flow in that person’s body. What do we do wrong? Jesus told His disciples that they would do more than even He did. (John 14:12)

“Truly, truly, I say to you, WHOEVER BELIEVES in me will also do the works that I do; and greater works than these will he do, because I am going to the Father.”

John 4:12

Do we live up to this verse, or is something deficient in our faith? I went to sleep with questions and prayers for God’s touch and His healing.

In the morning, before my kids went to school, we were memorizing scripture:

“Those who know your name trust in you, for you, LORD, have never forsaken those who seek you.”

Psalm 9:10

“Those who know Your name…”  What does it mean to know God’s name? From our discussion, we came up with this: It is to know God on a personal level, but it is a little bit more than that; it is to be friends with God, to walk with Him, to talk with Him, and to be very close with Him. We do not seek a friend only when something negative happens. With friends, we share our lives, our good and bad times, and we rejoice and cry together. We are not only sharing, but we are doing life together.

That morning, during a short nap, God gave me a dream:

With some of my prophet friends, we gathered around the table for a fellowship, discussing the same topic. And suddenly, one person started to recite the scriptures from the Bible. One after another, passages were flowing through the lips of the prophet. Another prophet began to speak,  then another. It felt like some poets were reading or reciting their favorite poems. It was so beautiful, but also it was so powerful. I thought, “I know some scriptures too; I should speak them up too.” I started speaking one passage, and it felt like the blood flow that was stopped in me by stress, anxiety, and fear began to circulate in my body again. Every word I spoke was bringing life into my spirit. My faith was rising. I woke up refreshed, renewed, and filled with joy.

Later, I was thinking about the beauty of those passages; they were like songs, like poetry. God whispered into my heart, “IT IS NOT JUST POETRY – IT IS LIFE.” I knew right there that this was the weapon God was giving us to fight. “For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.” Hebrews 4:12

God visited my family. It was the day of the breakthrough: God healed my husband, and we both could experience God’s touch and presence in our lives. He was next to us, and we could feel Him.

I wish I could remember every scripture spoken at that table in my dream, but I will share some scriptures God put in my heart. Let these scriptures bring life into your specific situation. If God did it for us, He can do it to you also. Even if it feels like nothing is happening, keep praying, keep believing, keep speaking scripture, let God be God in your life, and let Him be your friend.

Isaiah 41:10

“So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”

Isaiah 12:2

“Surely God is my salvation; I will trust and not be afraid. The LORD, the LORD himself, is my strength and my defense; he has become my salvation.”

Jeremiah 17:14

“Heal me, Lord, and I will be healed;

    save me and I will be saved,

    for you are the one I praise.”

Isaiah 53:5

“But he was pierced for our transgressions,

    he was crushed for our iniquities;

the punishment that brought us peace was on him,

    and by his wounds we are healed.

1-Peter 2:24

“He himself bore our sins” in his body on the cross,

so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness;

“by his wounds you have been healed.”

Psalm 34:19

“The righteous person may have many troubles,

    but the Lord delivers him from them all.”

Psalm 103

“Praise the Lord, my soul;

    all my inmost being, praise his holy name.

Praise the Lord, my soul,

    and forget not all his benefits—

who forgives all your sins

    and heals all your diseases,

who redeems your life from the pit

    and crowns you with love and compassion,

who satisfies your desires with good things

    so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.

The Lord works righteousness

    and justice for all the oppressed.”

Romans 8:37-39

“No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.

For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons,

neither the present nor the future, nor any powers,

neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

Psalm 23

“The Lord is my shepherd,

I shall not want.

He makes me lie down in green pastures;

He leads me beside quiet waters.

He restores my soul;

He guides me in the paths of righteousness

For His name’s sake.

Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,

I fear no evil, for You are with me;

Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.

You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies;

You have anointed my head with oil;

My cup overflows.

Surely goodness and lovingkindness will follow me

all the days of my life,

And I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.”
