The Gift of God

T

Reading John 4, the story of a Samaritan woman, I found myself in the conversation with God. This woman came to the well to get water, she did not expect to meet anyone at the well, but Jesus was there just for her. I could see how a depressed woman after meeting Jesus gained her confidence and got back to life. And it all started with Jesus being there for her. It was a turning point in the life of a Samaritan woman. Jesus revealed  for her the treasures of Heaven, and she found a true gift.

Jesus answered her, “If you knew the gift of God and who it is that asks you for a drink, you would have asked Him and He would have given you living waters.”

John 4:10

The Gift of God.

It is the Gift that no one else can give. But if a person would realize what this gift is,  he would have asked God for it. Everyone on earth wants to live. A lot of people would give everything away for life. No one wants to die, and only some give up their lives, because they are tired of living the way they live life.

What is that gift of God that everyone would have asked for?

“… He would have given you living waters.”

Revelation 22:17 says,

“…Let the one who is thirsty come; and let the one who wishes take the free gift of the water of life.”

Revelation 22:17

There is a gift – the free gift of the water of life.

In John 7:37-38 Jesus says:

“Let anyone who is thirsty come to me and drink. Whoever believes in me, as Scripture has said, rivers of living water will flow from within them.”

John 7:37-38

Jesus is the One who gives Life! He is the One who is calling to Himself all who are thirsty, tired and who want to live.

What is life? How much do we value it? We are still living, but can we say that this is the life Jesus is talking about?

Life is a gift that God gave us to live here on earth in the flesh. And we have a choice of what to do with it. Some people can cherish and nourish their flesh thinking that this is life just to have a beautiful body, and enjoying all pleasures of this earth. Others are investing in their mind, studying, and looking for the best choices and careers in life looking in the future and success thinking that this is life. Some just live life, not thinking what tomorrow will bring. But The Life Jesus is talking about is beyond man’s understanding.

John 4:14 says:

“But whoever  drinks this water  I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water  I give will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life.”

John 4:14

Living water that will never make you thirsty again and that becomes a spring of water inside of you welling up to eternal life. So, here on earth we can experience life that leads us to eternal life – life after physical death. That technically brings us from death to life. That’s amazing. And if only people could realize that this is only the way to life, they would not look further.

The gift of God… How to get that gift? Is it free?

Jesus Himself is that GIFT. It’s Free for us, but it came with the price, with the price of LIFE. Jesus Christ died for us to give us the GIFT OF LIFE. In John 14:6 Jesus says:

“I AM THE WAY, THE TRUTH  and THE LIFE. No one comes to the Father except through Me.”

John 16:6

Jesus is the LIFE, He is that water that when we drink we will never get thirsty again.

All starts with our willingness to accept this gift, welcoming Jesus and letting  Him into our hearts. If only we could remember that every person we do life with is a gift, maybe it’s a mom, maybe it’s a kid or a spouse. How much happier life would be if we treat each other as a gift. Jesus is a person too, and by inviting Him in your life, you are receiving a Friend, a Healer, a Savior, a Coach, a Comforter, an Advocate, a Father, a Mother, a Teacher, and you can name it. He is a GIFT. He is Wisdom, He is Love, He is Hope, He is Resurrection and Life! And He is LIVING WATER. Drinking from it is like acknowledging His presence with you, knowing that He is near, talking to Him, reading His word, listening to Him and just enjoying being with Him.

You might recognize those feelings when you spend time with good people: being in the good company, you feel like you got some positive energy, new strength and inspiration. With Jesus you are never alone. Unless we ourselves step outside of His presence, we can’t lose it, it’s not Him, He is always there, it’s us, who can lose the focus.

He became My Everything. As long as I keep my eyes on Him, as long as I remember that He is near and He is with me, I know, I am going to be ok. No matter the circumstances around me, He became My Fortress and My Shield. And yes, I can lose the focus in my life, but as soon as I come back to the remembrance and acknowledging Him in my life, I get back on my feet and keep standing together with Him. He is the One who gives me a taste of Heaven, being in His company and walking in His steps, knowing that He is watching over me and He is my Light in the darkness.

What a Friend I have in Jesus

All our sins and griefs to bear

What a privilege to carry

Everything to God in prayer…

THE GIFT OF GOD is the best thing that could have happened to me in my life, and I pray it could happen in yours as well. He is Holy, but He came to this earth to us, to unholy people, to bring us His Holiness, to dress us into His Righteousness and to give us LIFE.

If you do not know how to receive this gift, open your heart and ask Jesus to come in, tell Him ‘I want you, Jesus, in my life!’ Let Him start working on all your broken pieces. He has the power to bring things back to life because He is LIFE.

God bless you my friend.
